Liverpool's Pennant Attracts Hull's Attention
Real Madrid may have to outbid Hull City after Tigers expressed interest in signing Jermaine Pennant
In a week in which he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, Jermaine Pennant has also attracted the attention of Hull City who said they would be interested in signing the Liverpool winger.
"I would be very interested in Jermaine Pennant if he was available at the right price," said the Hull manager, Phil Brown. "We will be making inquiries."
Hull's bright start to the season has stuttered after three successive defeats and Brown is believed to want to bolster his midfield in particular. However, Brown denied the Wigan midfielder Michael Brown has been approached by the Tigers.
"We have got a number of irons in the fire, but just because the transfer window opens doesn't mean to say everyone jumps into business straight away," said Brown. "A lot of these windows start with the big boys, and once they start to do their dealings everyone else follows suit. We have got certain targets earmarked."
One player who does look certain to complete a move to the KC Stadium is the Guinea international Kamil Zayatte. The defender has been on loan at the club since August and Brown wants to make the deal permanent.
"We are very close [to signing Zayatte]," said Brown. "We are sitting down with his advisers. Hopefully we will have something to announce very soon."
