Gallas Hits Out at Chelsea Over 'lies' and 'laughable' Wage Offer

William Gallas has made serious accusations about his treatment by Chelsea in a new autobiography
William Gallas looks to have guaranteed himself a rough reception when he returns to Chelsea with Arsenal on Sunday after making a series of revelations about the breakdown of his relationship with Chelsea in his newly released autobiography.

The defender, stripped of the Arsenal captaincy over outspoken comments about his team-mates, has strongly criticized Chelsea for claiming he threatened to score an own-goal for the club. He has also described as "laughable" the salary he was offered to stay at Stamford Bridge and admitted he was negotiating with Milan behind the club's back.

"Peter Kenyon, the chief executive, was against satisfying my demands," he writes. "He made our life hell. I don't think either the owners or Kenyon were aware of my contacts with Milan. We let them know and told them the offer, which was superior to their own and what I was demanding of Chelsea. They wouldn't stump up.

"Chelsea said, for their part, that they wanted to keep me and their offer was still open. No one knows how laughable their offer was and what I deserved." Chelsea reported that Gallas threatened to put the ball in his own net to secure a move to Arsenal in 2006 but the center-half strongly denies that, writing that he is "incapable of such utter monstrosities" and that the club had turned the fans against him with that claim.

He added that he told Chelsea: "It's taken time, the negotiations. I've just come to the point where my heart is no longer at Chelsea. You're going to put me on the pitch, OK, but if the heart is not there and I'm not concentrating I risk making errors, errors that I'm not used to making. We could let in a goal, so lose a match stupidly. This is what I said."

He has claimed the then Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, prevented him from collecting his belongings from the training ground. "When I went back to get my things, the security wouldn't let me in. Mourinho had given instructions."

His attempts to secure an Arsenal win on Sunday are set to be helped by the return of Emmanuel Adebayor and there could be further boosts with Samir Nasri and Bacary Sagna also expected to declare their fitness. Adebayor suffered an ankle problem in the bruising defeat at Stoke at the beginning of the month and, although he returned as a substitute against Aston Villa and subsequently went away on international duty with Togo, he has not appeared since for Arsenal. The midfielder Nasri, who has had a knee problem, hopes to return along with the full-back Sagna, who has had ankle trouble.
