Murrary Takes Revenge on Federer to Make Madrid Final

In a repeat of the US Open final, the Swiss and the Scot take to the court again, but this time Murray triumphs
Andy Murray came from a set down to beat Roger Federer and book his place in tomorrow's Madrid Masters final where he will take on Raphael Nadal or Gilles Simon.

In a closely-fought match that got off to a quiet start, Murray lost the opening set 3-6, but held his serve to win the opening game of the second set. He soon broke Federer's serve and was 4-1 up at one point, until the Swiss came back on course. The Scot held his ground, however, to take the set 6-3.

Federer held his serve to take the first game of the third set and Murray appeared to be on the back foot as he battled back. In the closest fought of the three sets, Murray threw away several break points but brought the match level at 5-5 before crucially breaking Federer's serve - the Swiss eventually conceding with a long shot - to go 6-5 up. Serving for the match, Murray clung on and when Federer netted after the final rally, the Scot took the set 7-5 to secure a place in the final.

Murray's career record against Federer now stands at 3-2 as the Scot avenged his recent US Open defeat.
