Rivals Round on Hamilton Over Passing Maneouvres

BMW's Robert Kubica claims McLaren driver's overtaking style has been criticised in drivers' meetings
Lewis Hamilton's driving style has come under fire from fellow drivers, who have accused him of making dangerous overtaking maneouvres.

BMW's Robert Kubica claimed that the forceful tactics adopted by Hamilton, who leads the drivers' championship by seven points, has been discussed by rivals during the regular drivers' meetings. In particular, the Pole claimed Hamilton's performance in the recent Italian grand prix - when he was accused of forcing Red Bull's Mark Webber up an escape road and Toyota's Timo Glock onto the grass - was unfair.

"What he did was too much and dangerous," Kubica told Bild Zeitung."It was a topic [in the drivers' meetings] and most of them had a similar view. But at the end we can only talk. If someone is convinced they're allowed to do it, then we don't have any influence."

The McLaren team principal Ron Dennis commented that Kubica should focus on raising his own performance and defended his driver's technique. "It's refreshing to have a highly talented driver who has the ability to overtake and make the bold decisions he has in what is only his second season in Formula one," he said.
