Everton Set for Disciplinary Dates
Everton manager David Moyes has admitted an FA charge of improper conduct but the club will appeal Tim Cahill's red card
Everton have penciled two disciplinary dates into their diary after David Moyes admitted an FA charge of improper conduct yesterday and the club lodged an appeal over Tim Cahill's red card in the 208th Merseyside derby.
The Everton manager was charged after he was sent to the stands by the referee Alan Wiley during his side's 3-2 victory at Stoke City on September 14. Moyes was incensed by Wiley's refusal to award a penalty for handball against the Stoke defender Leon Cort and has requested a personal hearing with the FA although no date has been set for their meeting.
He received a call from Wiley after the game in which the official is believed to have admitted his error but their conversation would be inadmissible and the Everton manager remains open to the charge due to his reaction on the sidelines. The Scot's admission follows a similar action against Watford manager, Aidy Boothroyd, who has been charged with aiming abusive and/or insulting words towards referee Stuart Attwell for "the goal that never was" against Reading.
Everton have decided to appeal to the FA over Cahill's red card against Liverpool on Saturday. The Australia international was sent off in the 80th minute of the 2-0 defeat for lunging at Xabi Alonso and, as referee Mike Riley produced a straight red, Everton are entitled to appeal.
