Hatton Enlists Mayweather Snr for Malignaggi Fight
Ricky Hatton will be trained by his rival's father for his upcoming fight in Las Vegas, after Floyd Mayweather Snr agreed to prepare Hatton for his clash with the light-welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi at the end of the year.
The American is considered by many to be the best trainer in the world and will fly to England later this month to begin working with Hatton. He will be assisted by his close friend Lee Beard who has been part of Hatton's team for the past year.
"The fight against Malignaggi is make or break and I'm convinced this will be the best training camp I have ever had," Hatton said. "At this stage of my career I am not going to change my style too much but you are never too old to learn."
Hatton parted with his former coach Billy Graham last month and is now facing his first professional fight without him. Mayweather Snr has previously been in the corner for his son as well as Oscar de la Hoya and the current WBC light-heavyweight champion Chad Dawson. Mayweather Jr beat Hatton in Las Vegas last December.
The Hatton team will fly to Las Vegas later this week to meet Malignaggi for a press conference.
