Cuba's Angel Valodia Matos lashed out at a referee after being disqualified from his bronze medal bout with Kazakhstan's Arman Chilmanov in the Olympic taikwondo men's +80-kg tournament.
Matos aimed a kick at the head of Swedish referee Chakir Chelbat as coaches from both teams ran on to the mat to dispute the result. As the arena was engulfed in chaos, Matos was dragged from the scene by his back-room staff and may now face questioning from Chinese police and Olympic security officials.
