Healy on the Brink of Sunderland Move

Fulham's Northern Ireland striker set to undergo medical at Stadium of Light
Sunderland are poised to sign David Healy after the Fulham manager Roy Hodgson confirmed the Northern Ireland international was due to undergo a medical at the Stadium of Light.

Healy has been offered an escape route by the Blacks Cats - who are managed by his former Manchester United team-mate Roy Keane - after failing to establish himself at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers paid Leeds £1.5million for the unsettled marksman last summer but, following the arrival of Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson, Healy has fallen out of favor in west London.

Hodgson admitted today that Healy, who scored four times in the Premier League last season, is set to move to Wearside.

"If David has been spotted at Sunderland he didn't wear that disguise I told him to!" said Hodgson. "It's no secret that Sunderland admire David and have talked about a transfer. He's up there for a medical today.

"We'll see what happens now but it's certainly a possibility the transfer could go through."
