Christine Ohuruogu produced a stunning performance to take Britain's first athletics gold
Christine Ohuruogu has won gold for Britain in the 400m after a stunning performance that saw her streak away into first place from the middle of the field over the last 80m. Ohuruogu looked in complete control as she overtook first the Russian pair of Tatiana Firova and Yulia Guschina and then the pre-race favorite, the USA's Sanya Richards.
Ohuruogu finished in 49.62 secs with Jamaica's Shericka Williams in second and Richards a disappointing third.
