Adebayor Signs Long-term Deal With Arsenal
Emmanuel Adebayor has signed a new contract with Arsenal, putting an end to a long summer of speculation linking the striker with a move away from the Emirates. The Togo international, who scored 30 goals last season, had, at one stage, looked to be on his way out of Arsenal with AC Milan and Barcelona likely destinations.
The 24-year-old, who arrived from Monaco in January 2006, put an end to the speculation when he pledged his future to Arsenal earlier this month, and has now backed up that statement by signing a long-term deal, believed to be for four years.
"Arsenal can today confirm that Emmanuel Adebayor has signed a new long-term contract with the club," read a club statement. "Everyone at Arsenal looks forward to Emmanuel's continued contribution to the club over the coming years."
