Pacquiao Turns Down De La Hoya's Final Fight Over Purse
WBC world lightweight champion Manny Pacquiao has rejected the chance to fight Oscar De La Hoya
Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino superstar who now holds the WBC world lightweight title, has rejected the offer of a multimillion-dollar contract to fight Oscar De La Hoya on December 6 in Las Vegas in what will be the final fight of the American's career. According to Pacquiao he had been offered only 30% of the purse after asking for a 40-60 split. "It would have been an honor to fight De La Hoya," said Pacquiao, before adding: "I find the offer unacceptable and the only option is to move on." He is now likely to defend his world title, amid speculation that De La Hoya will now look for a contest against the Mexican WBA welterweight champion, Antonio Margarito.
