Great Britain's men's coxless fours are on course in their bid to become Olympic champions after winning the semi-final in Shunyi
Great Britain's men's coxless fours team are still on course in their bid to become Olympic champions after winning the semi-final in Shunyi.

The British boat - comprising Steve Williams, Tom James, Pete Reed and stroke Andrew Triggs Hodge - upped their work rate in the last 1,000m of the first semi-final to claim first place. The team are attempting to win an Olympic medal without Sir Steve Redgrave or Matthew Pinsent in the boat for the first time in 28 years. Australia followed the British boat home with France coming third. The world champions New Zealand came in fourth but Ireland could only manage last place.

Britain's list of rowing finalists has now reached seven - three more than Team GB managed at either of the last Olympics.
