Sharapova in Doubt for Olympics

Maria Sharapova's disappointing summer continues with the news that a shoulder injury threatens her participation in Beijing
Maria Sharapova will have an MRI scan today to determine whether she can take part in the Olympics.

Sharapova sustained a shoulder injury yesterday, during her defeat of Poland's Marta Domachowska at the Rogers Cup. The Russian was clearly troubled during the match, notching up 17 double faults.

"It's tough to go on court and not be close to even 50%," said Sharapova. "I'm too good of a player to go out there and try to fight through something that can eventually become something serious."

Sharapova has endured a disappointing summer, crashing out of Wimbledon in the second round.
