Diouf Signs Four-year Deal at Sunderland

Sunderland have completed the signing of El-Hadji Diouf from Bolton. The forward has signed a four-year deal at the Stadium of Light, with the Black Cats paying an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of £3m, for the Senegal international.

Diouf, who can play as a central striker or in wide attacking midfield roles, becomes Sunderland's third summer signing from a fellow Premier League club, following the arrival of Pascal Chimbonda and Teemu Tainio from Tottenham.

"El-Hadji is a great signing for us and we're thrilled to get him in," said the Sunderland manager, Roy Keane. "He has bags of Premier League and international experience, which is exactly what we've been targeting this summer.

"El-Hadji has always been the kind of player opposition teams and supporters love to hate, a thorn in the side, and that's why we're delighted to now have him in our squad."

Keane has been in need of reinforcements up front, as the striker Kenwyne Jones is likely to miss up to two months of the new season after picking up an injury on international duty.
