Diouf Has Medical at Sunderland
The Bolton forward El-Hadji Diouf is having a medical at Sunderland after being widely expected to leave the Reebok this summer
The Bolton forward El-Hadji Diouf is having a medical at Sunderland ahead of a potential move to the Stadium of Light.
If the move is completed - with the fee reported to be in the region of £3m - Diouf would become Sunderland's third capture from a fellow Premier League club, following the arrival of Pascal Chimbonda and Teemu Tainio from Tottenham.
Diouf arrived at the Reebok Stadium four years ago, initially on loan, from Liverpool but his departure this summer has been widely expected. The Senegal international scored on his final home game of the season and threw his shirt into the crowd before saying: "I don't think I can stay. I want to be more challenged, to play for a club with bigger ambitions."
The Sunderland manager Roy Keane is in need of reinforcements up front, as striker Kenwyne Jones is likely to miss up to two months of the new season after picking up an injury on international duty.
