The Open: Harrington Passes Himself Fit to Defend Title
Defending Open champion Padraig Harrington teed off at Royal Birkdale, despite a wrist injury
Padraig Harrington will defend his Open title at Royal Birkdale. The Irishman has been suffering from a strained wrist but, after an early morning visit to the practice range, decided he was fit to play.
Serious doubts had been raised over Harrington's participation, after he hit only three full shots in practice yesterday, restricting himself in the main to chips and putts. Harrington tees off alongside Retief Goosen and Justin Leonard.
