'I'm Staying With Arsenal,' Says Adebayor
Emmanuel Adebayor has stated that he will not be leaving the Gunners, despite speculation linking him to Milan
Emmanuel Adebayor has declared his intention to see out his contract at Arsenal, ending speculation about his immediate future.
Adebayor, who scored 30 goals for the Gunners last season, has been heavily linked with a move to Milan and Barcelona this summer, but the striker told a news conference in Vienna today that he was going nowhere.
"I am an Arsenal player and have three years left on my contract," he said. "The most important thing for me is to keep on enjoying my football. I'm staying at Arsenal."
Praising the spirit of his team-mates in the young Emirates dressing room and the guidance of Arsène Wenger, he added: "You have a chance to play in a team where everyone is between 21-26 years old, we are all the same generation. We all have the same ideas, we go out together after games to restaurants."
"We all have the same ideas and we all want to achieve something. We have a good boss which is Arsene Wenger, he tries to bring this atmosphere to the dressing room where we feel like brothers and like family. Those are the reasons that give us a chance to play the football we play. We play good football, now we look forward to winning trophies."
Adebayor's statement comes the day after his Italian agent Vincenzo Marabito said there was an "80% chance" he would move to Milan. The Italian club, who will not play in next season's Champions League but who signed Matthieu Flamini from Arsenal in May, had previously claimed Adebayor is their sole remaining transfer target.
