2012 Wedding Trends

Every bride wants a perfect fairy tale wedding ( well, I specifically say 'bride' as it is her day. Sorry grooms!). Everything has to be just perfect, right from the location to the finest detail on the cutlery. Well, it's easier said than done to have just everything planned well. As I said, each and every girl dreams of having this perfect wedding, wherein everything needs to be according to her wishes and the current trend. Speaking of trend, here I am to update you with a few 2012 wedding trends that might just make your wedding the talk of the town. So, for all the ladies who have gotten engaged this holiday season, read on if the wedding bells are going to be ringing soon.



Vintage Wedding
Go back to the golden days where weddings were small affairs. The wedding trends of 2012 has the vintage trend catching up. Here are a few ideas for a vintage wedding. Your wedding dress could be a blast from the past, not literally, but a vintage design dress, would work wonders. A perfect vintage wedding could be set in natural surroundings, more like an outdoor wedding. You could also have those photo booths with draped backdrops. A golden or rather rustic location would be lovely to give your wedding that ancient English look.

Personalized Approach
Well, you might say that of course, a wedding is a personal affair, but I would like to ask you, how much of a personal touch does it have? A personalized wedding would mean a theme that would focus on the bride and the groom. The wedding theme could be based on the likes of the bride and the groom, probably a backdrop or setting of the couples favorite holiday destination. Let the uniformity go away, the bridesmaids can have different dresses rather than the same dress for everyone. To avoid chaos, the color of the dresses of the bridesmaids could be the same, the styles may differ. Yes, 2012 is going to be all about "doing it your way"! Instead of arranging a wedding ceremony to please the society, this year we will see people holding their personal values more closer than the social norms.



The Modern Touch
Now, just because this year the trend is screaming out for a more traditional cum vintage wedding, this doesn't mean that you can't add a touch of the modern era that you live in. Apart from all the themes and settings, you could also think of sharing the memories of the love you shared with your better half, through small video clips and slide show of the photos that could go on in the background during the reception. In short, just mix and match the modern trends with the traditional values, and you are good to go!

2012 Wedding Color Trends
Well, the traditional black and white are a thing of the past. If it's not a vintage wedding you could go for vibrant snazzy colors. Unlike last year wherein the trend was more of a royal and flashy wedding, this year you will see loads of natural shades in the wedding ceremonies in the natural surroundings. The most favorite combinations this year are going to be pastel shades of pink and purple. Lavender, lilac, yellow, topaz, gray, blue willow and lime greens are going to be "in" this year. If you are planning a wedding during spring, then you can include lots of bright shades like hot pink, red, tangerine and violet to add some spice to the whole wedding theme. Black would continue to be a popular choice as an added icing on the cake.

	2012 Wedding Dress Trends
	This is my favorite part of the wedding plan, the wedding dress. So, this season has a variety of styles the blushing bride can choose from. This year, the wedding dresses will have lots and lots of laces! Thanks to the trend set by Kate Middleton in the Royal Wedding, and the wedding dress worn by Kristen Stewart in Twilight. The bridal gowns this year will have the traditional feel, and a modern touch is always welcome! Strapless gowns were in fashion all this while, but 2012 is all for deep illusion necks, with full lace sleeves pattern and a light and airy flow at the bottom. Nevertheless, it's your wedding so do whatever you feel is right for you! Now, I know most of the grooms would go for the all-time-choice, a tuxedo on their wedding, which is not a bad choice. But the forecasts for 2012 slightly differ. Mister, if you don't want to wear a tux, just don't! Just be what you are at your wedding day, remember, the personalized theme of 2012! You can opt for a more relaxed look instead of going all James Bond. I see a lot of urban rustic formals coming up this year with polka dot ties, floral shirts and light colors. Well, not all men would want that, and not all men would be able to carry them off. My advice to the groom, just be comfortable and look like a groom!

	2012 Bridesmaids and Groomsmen
	Deciding on the dresses of the bridesmaids and the groomsmen is equally important as the dresses of the bride and the groom. Hence, now that we know what the bride and the groom of 2012 will look like, let's focus on their companions. Starting with the bridesmaids, 2012 calls for setting your own trends. Yes, your dresses needn't be all the same, like it has been in the past. This year will give you a chance to choose your own dress which needn't be the same as the rest. Or, you can go for the same color combination, but choose different designs for your dress. I have already mentioned about the color combinations that will take the spotlight this year. Go for pinks and lilac, mix it up with a contrasting colored belt and shoes. Or, wear a traditional dress pattern with the modernized boots, wouldn't it be a perfect mix of tradition and modernization! Speaking of the groomsmen, try not to take the attention away from the groom. If the groom is dressed up in formal tux, you can take the formality away and wear something semi-formal. Or, since 2012 calls for a traditional wedding trend, wear something traditional yet light so that people can distinguish between the groom and the groomsmen.

	2012 Wedding Venues
	Unlike last year wherein the weddings were all about spending the money and flashing the blings, this year you would see a more down-to-earth kinda approach. The trend this year, seems to not go for an expensive wedding reception in a 5 star hotel, but to get married where your roots belong. 2012 is about outdoor weddings wherein couples would be choosing venues that hold sentimental values, like the place where they grew up! Another change that we see this year is the trend of holding a reception for the class and not the mass. Meaning, that couples are actually preferring to invite people who are important to them rather than calling everyone they know. Couples are looking for a wedding that is economically feasible, and emotionally satisfying; and 2012 wedding trends promises to give them all this, while preserving the traditional heritage and giving them a chance to add a sense of their individuality in the ceremony.

	2012 Wedding Cake Trends
	The wedding cake is of course one of the highlights at the wedding. The different trends in wedding cakes in 2012 are the classic wedding cakes with lovely floral designs using bows, laces and ribbons. The hot favorite this year would be tired cakes instead of the cupcake trend that was ruling since the past few years. Expect a lot of classic cakes with exotic decorations with real flowers used for decorations at the top, instead of the usual bride and groom sculpture at the top. If you want you can go berserk with the designs, with the range of cakes available the choices are exhaustive. There are some amazing vintage designs available in wedding cakes. I suggest that more than the design you can experiment with the flavor of the cake. You could go for flavors like chocolate hazelnut, orange, vanilla bean, caramel butter-cream rather than the traditional fruit and carrot.

	2012 Wedding Favors
	Well, we see a lot of variations in this year's wedding trend as compared to the past few years, and wedding favors are no exceptions! 2012 calls for a more DIY trend when it comes to wedding favors. So this year, expect some nice edible favors including sweet baked goodies and treats. 2012 is all about personalizing and bringing the traditional touch. So why not bake something from grandma's recipe book and delight the guests. Other popular wedding favors include black and white damask (remember I said black continues to be a popular choice this year as well?!) Porcelain gnomes and vases maintaining there traditional heritage is also something that 2012 favors would include.

A wedding is something that will be one of those foundations of the fond memories you will share with your spouse for the rest of your life. The 2012 wedding trends mentioned here are just a small effort to make those memories a little extra special. When it comes to catching up with the current trend, remember, what is more important is what you want your wedding to be like. I guess, this is the reason why Bella went for a traditional lace gown with full sleeves in the year where strapless was the popular choice.
