In 2009, tennis fans were treated to some superb tennis, and not only from the World Number One and World Number Two. Though Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal did provide the crowd and the fans some wonderful tennis, it was the entire top ten, and then some, that contributed to the fabulous tennis season we saw in 2009. In 2010, the season is going to get better and tennis fans will be on a high with all the action that is due.

The First Grand Slam of the year, the prestigious Australian Open, has begun at Melbourne Park, and promises to be a thriller. With the 2010 Australian Open draw making it a very competitive tournament, it will be interesting to see who ends up with this title. Roger Federer has won it three times, but lost last year to Rafael Nadal. Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray are looking good and both will want the title under their belt. And let's not forget Nikolay Davyedenko, the man who has beaten Federer in his last two meetings, he will want to prove that he can win Slams too. Del Potro will be on a high after wrestling the US Open from Federer, and will want to do the same here to Nadal, and Andy Roddick, after coming so close to a Wimbledon victory, will do his best to upset the cart here. And the above excludes Soderling, Verdasco, Tsonga, and a host of other players who could ruin the chances of the stars.

Day One of the Australian Open promises great tennis, with big names Murray, Roddick, Nadal and Del Potro taking to the courts in the men's section and Safina, Kuznetsova and Dementieva taking the courts in the women's section. Expect some of the highest quality of tennis form these great players, and the many more matches that are all part of Day One of the 2010 Australian Open.

Stay tuned to know how the seeds fared on the opening day of the first Grand Slam of the Year.
