Panel Cites 45 Suspicious Matches in Betting Findings
An independent report has identified a number of professional matches that are under suspicion due to unusual betting patterns on them
An independent panel claims that as many as 45 professional matches over the past five years will receive further scrutiny in the wake of unusual betting patterns on them.
Findings from the International Tennis Federation, the ATP, the WTA Tour and the four grand slams have been published, which said "professional tennis is neither systematically nor institutionally corrupt". However, the report added that 45 unidentified matches remain under suspicion.
"The findings of this review clearly demonstrate the need for having an integrity unit," said Jeff Rees, a member of the panel. "The aim to rid any uncertainty or implication of corruption in tennis is fundamental to the reputation and future standing of the game and is fully supported by all international tennis bodies."
