O'Sullivan Tops Rankings After Completing Double

After winning the UK and world title double, Ronnie O'Sullivan tops the revised world rankings
Ronnie O'Sullivan topped the revised world rankings by a big margin yesterday after joining Steve Davis, Stephen Hendry and Mark Williams as only the fourth player to complete the UK and world title double in the same season.

O'Sullivan has 51,150 points with Stephen Maguire second on 45,525. It was the highest spot achieved by Maguire, who won two ranking events. Allister Carter, the runner-up at the Crucible, also achieved his highest ever place, seventh, as did Joe Perry, 12th.

Among those dropping out of the top 16 were Ken Doherty (18th), Williams (22nd) and Davis (29th). Liang Wenbo, the first Chinese player to reach a quarter-final at Sheffield, rose to 40th.
