Liang's Potting Prowess Puts Quarter-final in Sight
China's Liang Wembo holds a 6-2 overnight lead in his second round match against Joe Swail
Liang Wenbo, the Chinese left-hander who eliminated Ken Doherty in the opening round, holds a 6-2 overnight lead over Joe Swail which he hopes today to convert into a quarter-final place at the world championship in Sheffield.
Doherty, the 1997 champion, described Liang's potting as "fearless" and at times "outrageous". The winner's quarter-final opponent will be either Ronnie O'Sullivan or Mark Williams. O'Sullivan led 9-7 after last night's session despite the Welsh left-hander taking the last two frames.
Stephen Maguire, runner-up to O'Sullivan in the UK Championship, has an 11-5 lead over the Australian left-hander Neil Robertson.
