I'll Bounce Back - Riise

John Arne Riise has vowed to make amends for scoring the own goal which cost Liverpool victory against Chelsea
John Arne Riise believes he will come back stronger after his own goal in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.

"I've learned that it's the way you hit back that matters," Riise said. "Mentally, I am the best. I've got my head back in place after a heavy night. I'm going to learn from this." Riise headed a Salomon Kalou cross into his own goal in stoppage time. "I decided to stoop and head the ball but it was a swerving cross, the ball was wet and it slid right off my forehead." Riise added he was hopeful of staying at Liverpool when his contract expires next year. "I hope and still believe in a new contract, but I haven't heard anything from the club yet."

Rafael Benítez urged Riise to make amends for his mistake. "I have talked with John and told him not to keep thinking about the own goal all the time," said the manager. "He must come back and be ready."

Fabio Aurelio may miss the rest of the season after he was ruled out for three weeks with a torn abductor muscle.
