US Students and Credit Card Debt

So many of us have always been told that when you grow up you need to go to college, get a degree, and get a good job. Most students find themselves using their credit cards to just survive. This is why US student and credit card debt is a problem for many.
It is amazing how high the cost of college is these days. Every time it seems that colleges are asking way too much for tuition they jest raise their fees again. I personally don't know of any college students that do not rely on credit cards at least a little. Unfortunately the student loans, grants, and part-time jobs just don't cut it. This is why there is a problem with US student and credit card debt.

So many of us have always been told that when you grow up you need to go to college, get a degree, and get a good job. Most college students are trying to do just that, but with the cost of housing, food, and occasional fun. Most students find themselves using their credit cards to just survive. These students worked hard to get into college and most will do just about anything to not be forced to drop out. This doesn't just describe the young college student just out of high school; it also describes the older student that has returned to college to better their career.

How to Keep Credit Card Debt Manageable

Unlike student loans, credit card debt has to be paid every month even from the beginning. As your balance raises so does the minimum amounts due. Trying to pay your credit card bill while going to college is going to be very difficult. The best thing to do is to start a plan to keep your credit card debt from becoming out of control. To create your plan you should

#1 Decide what your priorities are. If you have not already decided that keeping your credit card balance low is a priority then you should.

#2 Make a list of the exact items that can go on your credit card. It would be a good idea to make a complete list of what expense is paid by what. For example; if you have a student loan you could write down that it will pay your tuition and books, and so on. If you do feel the need to spend money on fun then you'll need to make boundaries now and add that to your list

It is very important that you create a detailed game plan even before you head off to college. You're credit card debt will need to be played back, and if you have one late payment or miss one payment your credit line will suffer and your interest rate will go up. Don’t become another US student and a lot of credit card debt.
