King Ruled Out for Rest of Season

Tottenham Hot spur captain Ledley King will play no further part in Spurs' season as he continues his recovery from a serious knee problem
Spurs' Carling Cup success means that center-back Ledley King will not play again this season. With qualification for European competition next year already assured thanks to their victory over Chelsea at Wembley, Tottenham and King have decided that it will best serve his recovery from a long-term knee injury if he does not play in any of the club's remaining six fixtures.

King has only made four league appearances in the current campaign, and was rested for a month in the run up to the Carling Cup final. He has endured surgery on his knee in the last year, and has also suffered damaged metatarsals, a broken leg and a serious hip injury in a career that has been checkered by periods on the sidelines.

"My knee is actually feeling good at the moment and there is no inflammation, but we have to look at the bigger picture and accept that this is an ideal point in time to recover further, get best advice and make sure that I come back fitter," said King. "They are six games I could well have taken part in, but we all believe this is worth doing for the longer term benefit."
