Stranger

Just some thing random...
Who is this girl?
that stands haggard faced
poised to break into blackened shards
her body, cyanide laced.

I think we used to know each other once
but that seems so very long ago
now I watch this foreign gaze
this stranger, this foe.

I taste salt on my tongue
and notice how a tear curves her cheek
I feel bile in my throat
this girl seems so weak!

I slam the wardrobe door
on a face I never want to see
this shadow from my memories
this stranger I'm forced to call me
