Sarkozy Wins Ryanair Ad Case

Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni, who married last weekend, yesterday won their case against the low-cost airline Ryanair
Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni are not known for scrimping on budget holidays - for their Christmas break to Egypt they borrowed a billionaire industrialist's private jet before exchanging love tokens worth €84,000 (£62,000).

But when the low-cost airline Ryanair used their photograph without consent in an advert for cheap flights in a Paris newspaper, the French president, a former lawyer, did not appreciate the joke and took the airline to court.

The Sarkozys, who married last weekend, yesterday won their case against the Irish company. Sarkozy was awarded his requested €1 in symbolic damages. Bruni was awarded €60,000.
