4.57pm Nottingham Forest have lost 3-0 at Gillingham, Luton have gone 2-1 up at Port Vale and Swansea have beaten Leeds 3-2.
4.55pm Danny Shittu's late consolation can't deny QPR, who run out 4-2 victors at Watford. Plymouth have finished 2-2 with Stoke ... MK Dons win 1-0 at Darlington ... Rochdale fight back to pinch a 2-2 draw at Macclesfield ... Bristol Rovers beat Carlisle 3-0 ... Charlton finish 1-1 at Leicester ... West Brom romp to a 5-0 stroll against Scunthorpe ... and Yeovil have beaten Brighton 2-1.
4.53pm A late goal for Sunderland means three points are heading to the Stadium of Light against Bolton. And the final whistle sounds moments after Daryl Murphy's strike, meaning the game has finished 3-1 to Sunderland. And Middlesbrough have also claimed the points, with Tuncay's goal sealing a 1-0 win at Portsmouth.
4.52pm West Ham have beaten Man Utd 2-1! And Tottenham have beaten Reading 6-4.
4.49pm Luke Varney's last-minute goal at Leicester appears to have salvaged a point for Charlton, who are now 1-1 at the Walkers Stadium.
4.48pm Chelsea have beaten Newcastle 2-1 and Sam Allardyce is setting a new standard in fuming on the Stamford Bridge touchline.
4.45pm Steve Lovell's late goal has put Aberdeen 1-0 up at St Mirren.
4.43pm When things are against you, things are against you. Chelsea lead 2-1 against Newcastle, with Salomon Kalou scoring the vital goal. However, according to TV replays, he was four yards offside. Elsewhere, MK Dons have gone 1-0 up at Darlington, while Watford now trail 4-1 at home against QPR. Stoke keeper Russell Hoult has also been sent off for a professional foul at Plymouth.
4.42pm That's more like it. Another goal at White Hart Lane. And it's gone to Spurs, who now lead an incredible match 6-4 after Dimitar Berbatov's fourth of the game.
4.41pm ... WEST HAM LEAD MAN UTD! Matthew Upson rose the highest to meet a cross and headed powerfully into the net to give the Hammers a shock 2-1 lead against the leaders.
4.40pm A red card at St Andrew's, where Fulham's Hameur Bouazza has been shown a second yellow card against Birmingham. And there's another goal at Upton Park ...
4.38pm Back to Upton Park, where Cristiano Ronaldo's earlier penalty miss could cost United dearly. Ferdinand rose the highest at a West Ham corner and his towering header pierced two defenders on the line and dropped into the back of the net. It's 1-1 with around 10 minutes to play. And there hasn't been a goal in Tottenham v Reading for two minutes. Poor, frankly.
4.37pm Robbie Keane steps up to take the penalty ... and misses. But substitute Jermain Defoe is on hand to poke home the rebound and Tottenham have only gone and blimmin' GONE 5-4 UP against Reading.
4.36pm West Ham are level with Man Utd, Anton Ferdinand heading them back to 1-1. AND THERE'S A PENALTY AT SPURS!
4.34pm This is getting seriously ludicrous. We're still not done scoring at White Hart Lane! It's 4-4, where Spurs have equalized again! Steed Malbranque got the goal, where the home fans are being treated to a second 4-4 thriller of the season. At least. Reading fans will be fearing the fact that the last time they scored four away from home, they still lost 7-4.
4.33pm And we're still not done scoring at White Hart Lane! Dave Kitson has just lobbed the ball over Paul Robinson's outstretched hand for his second of the game to put Reading 4-3 up at Spurs.
4.31pm We're not done scoring at White Hart Lane, mind: Dimitar Berbatov's hat-trick means it's now 3-3 between Spurs and Reading. Bradley Wright-Phillips' second has brought Southampton level at 2-2 with Barnsley too.
4.30pm Aston Villa have come from behind and now lead 2-1 at Wigan after Gabriel Agbonlahor's goal. Cardiff have matched that effort and are 2-1 up at Preston, while 10-man Morecambe now lead Peterborough 3-2.
4.28pm Boyhood Tottenham fan Dave Kitson has just put Reading ahead for a second time at White Hart Lane; it's now 3-2 to the Royals. Krisztian Timar's equalizer has brought Plymouth level at 2-2 with Stoke, while resilient Bristol City lead 1-0 at Burnley.
4.27pm ... but Cristiano Ronaldo pulls it wide! Jonathan Spector was penalized for handball, but the man who can do no wrong for United has, um, done wrong. It remains West Ham 0-1 Man Utd.
4.26pm Penalty for Man Utd ...
4.24pm Bradley Wright-Phillips has pulled a goal back for Southampton, who now trail 2-1 at Barnsley. Ben Strevens' second goal of the game has given Dagenham & Redbridge a 2-0 lead at Bury. And former England striker Michael Ricketts has also put Walsall 2-0 up at Oldham.
4.21pm Against the run of play, Spurs have leveled against Reading. Newly-arrived substitute Jermain Defoe was involved, before Dimitar Berbatov bagged his second of the game. It's now 2-2.
4.20pm It's all Reading at Tottenham, where suggestions that Juande Ramos has remedied Spurs' ills appear a little on the premature side. Jermain Defoe has just come on in a bid to turn around a 2-1 deficit. Gillingham lead Forest 2-0 and Bristol Rovers are now 3-0 ahead against Carlisle.
4.18pm Roy Hodgson is quickly learning about Fulham's Achilles heel: second halves. Sebastian Larsson's equalizer has pulled Birmingham level. Ryan Shawcross has also headed Stoke into a 2-1 lead at Plymouth.
4.15pm As things stand, Chelsea lie nine points behind Man Utd in the Premier League standings. Surely a draw with Newcastle would extinguish their title hopes? Elsewhere, Hartlepool are 1-1 at home to Orient, and Kevin Phillips' second goal has made it 3-0 for West Brom against Scunthorpe.
4.13pm Curtis Davies has called on all of his pub football skills to loop a header in for Aston Villa at Wigan, where it's now 1-1. Roger Johnson has also equalized for Cardiff at Preston.
4.11pm A second goal at Stamford Bridge, where the score is now ... 1-1! Nicky Butt scrambled home the equalizer for Newcastle. And across town, Reading have gone 2-1 ahead at Spurs, with Ivar Ingimarsson scoring. Celtic are also 2-0 ahead against Gretna now.
4.09pm Nottingham Forest had only conceded 12 goals in League One all season before today, but you can make that 13 now after Gary Mulligan's goal for Gillingham at the Priestfield. Andy Keogh's strike has put Wolves 1-0 ahead at Norwich, while Motherwell are now 5-1 ahead against Dundee Utd and Leeds trail Swansea 3-2, courtesy of Alan Thompson's free-kick.
4.06pm Morecambe trail Peterborough 2-1 at home and are now down to 10 men, with their goalscorer David Artell receiving his marching orders.
4.05pm An early second-half goal puts Swindon 1-0 ahead at League One strugglers Bournemouth. Barry Corr, who got Swindon's winner at Yeovil on Boxing Day, has got this one too.
3.59pm "Kuqi?" frowns Patrick Hussey (3.37pm). "You have obviously confused the qualifier 'decent' with 'bearded fridge-like object in shorts, except with less mobility and less hot in front of goal.' Easy mistake to make, Patrick.
3.50pm West Brom look home and hosed against Scunthorpe, with Robert Koren making it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time. Iron defender Marcus Williams was harshly dismissed moments before Koren's goal. And Calum Willock's goal means Port Vale are now 1-1 with Luton. And 10-man Swansea now lead Leeds 3-1 after Jason Scotland's goal. That should be half-time everywhere.
3.45pm It's 1-1 at Home Park where Plymouth striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has scored the rebound from his own penalty miss against Stoke.
3.44pm Bolton have given themselves a pre-half-time lifeline at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland waste of mon ... sorry, goalkeeper Craig Gordon flapped at an El Hadji Diouf free-kick and the ball flew straight in. It's now 2-1 to the Black Cats.
3.42pm Scott McDonald's goal has given Celtic a 1-0 lead at home to Gretna. Hereford also lead 2-0 at Bradford, Dean Beckwith grabbing the goal. Dirty Swansea have just been reduced to 10 men against Leeds; Dutchman Ferrie Boode picking up a straight red card.
3.40pm West Brom look like extending their lead at the top of the Championship: Kevin Phillips has put the Baggies 1-0 up on Scunthorpe, while QPR are 3-0 up at Watford, where a friend of mine is the Hornets' guest of honor today, ahead of his emigration to the middle east. A fine send-off and no mistake.
3.37pm "As a Fulham fan, could you ask your interweb readers if there are any decent Finnish players Roy Hodgson might scoop up?" muses Patrick Hussey. "Particularly strikers and centre-backs? The 'cream' of Northern Ireland was totally pants. Thank you." Well, Shefki Kuqi is already at Craven Cottage on loan, Patrick. What about Jari Litmanen? Sami Hyypia? He's getting past it at Anfield. Fulham are still 1-0 up at Birmingham, by the way. It would be their first away win of 2007 if they hold on.
3.36pm Sunderland waste of mon ... sorry, striker Kenwyne Jones has given Sunderland a 2-0 advantage at home to Bolton. Scott Vernon's second goal has also put Blackpool 2-0 up at Colchester.
3.35pm Rotherham lead 1-0 at Notts County, Leyton Orient are 1-0 up at Hartlepool and Jamal Campbell-Ryce has put Barnsley 2-0 ahead against Southampton.
3.33pm With the home form of relegation candidates, Watford are soon going to find themselves dropping out of the Championship promotion picture if they fail to turn things around. Sadly for the Hornets, Damion Stewart has put QPR 2-0 up.
3.29pm Aston Villa's hit-and-miss form appears to be continuing. Titus Bramble, of all people, has headed Wigan into a 1-0 lead against Martin O'Neill's men. Hearts, whose players held a crisis meeting earlier this week after a shocking run of form, are also 1-0 up, with Ruben Palazuelos putting them ahead at Falkirk.
3.27pm Poor defending has cost Newcastle again; they trail 1-0 at Chelsea. Unable to clear a long throw, Shaun Wright-Phillips' shot deflected to Michael Essien, who left Shay Given helpless in the Magpies' goal from six yards. Blackpool have also gone ahead at lowly Colchester, with Scott Vernon scoring.
3.25pm Swansea are back in front against Leeds to lead 2-1, while Airdrie Utd can look forward to a particularly enjoyable half-time break. They already lead 4-0 at Berwick.
3.21pm Arsenal couldn't do it on Boxing Day and Portsmouth haven't done it for three months, but Middlesbrough have just scored at Fratton Park. Tuncay has maintained his good run of scoring form with the opening goal of the game. Adam Rooney has also given Chesterfield a 1-0 lead at Barnet in League Two.
3.20pm Hereford have gone 1-0 up at Bradford through Theo Robinson's goal, Brighton lead 1-0 at Yeovil and Macclesfield are 1-0 up at home to Rochdale, Levi Reid getting the goal.
3.17pm Kieran Richardson has given Sunderland a 1-0 lead at home to Bolton, while there's been another goal at White Hart Lane. It's gone to Reading, with Kalifa Cisse scoring after a shocking Paul Robinson blunder at a free-kick.
3.14pm Goal at Upton Park ... do you really need me to tell you that Cristiano Ronaldo has scored it? "Please tell me Bristol Rovers are up 6-0," pleads Patrick O'Brien. Sorry, Patrick. How's 2-0? Craig Hinton has just doubled the Pirates' lead against Carlisle. Jermaine Beckford's 15th league goal of the season for Leeds has also made it 1-1 at Swansea.
3.13pm Chris Porter has quickly doubled Motherwell's lead against Dundee Utd and Martin Rowlands' penalty has given QPR a 1-0 lead at Watford.
3.11pm There's a full house at the Liberty Stadium, where the majority of 20,000 fans are celebrating Andy Robinson's goal against Leeds. It's 1-0 to Swansea. Motherwell also lead Dundee Utd by the same scoreline.
3.10pm Fulham lead at Birmingham, Carlos Bocanegra popping up with the opening goal. And Stoke also lead 1-0 at Plymouth, with Richard Cresswell grabbing the goal.
3.08pm Reading's bus made it to White Hart Lane in time for kick-off, not that it's done them any good: Dimitar Berbatov has given Spurs a 1-0 lead. Elsewhere, Peterborough lead at Morecambe, Doncaster are 1-0 up on Southend and Chris Lines has given Bristol Rovers a 1-0 lead at home to Carlisle.
3.05pm Brentford lead Chester 1-0 through Alan Connell's goal, while Simon Whaley has cracked a 20-yard volley past Kasper Schmeichel to give Preston the lead at home to Cardiff. Shrewsbury's game with Wycombe has been delayed by 15 minutes due to floodlight woes.
3.03pm Early goals to note have come at Oakwell and Boundary Park. Sam Togwell has put Barnsley ahead against Southampton, while Scott Dann's goal has given Walsall the lead at Oldham.
3pm And we're off. West Ham are playing with a sole striker at home to Man Utd today, although that might be giving Carlton Cole a bit too much credit. Apparently the Upton Park faithful gave Carlos Tevez a warm reception when he took to the field. "On behalf of all North Bank West Ham fans, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Carlos Tevez," writes Chris Bird. "A supreme footballing talent and all-round good sort."
2.57pm Elsewhere in the sporting galaxy, Kirk Shepherd has just beaten Peter Manley in the world championship darts quarter-finals, 7-1 shot Souffleur has won the Challow Hurdle at Newbury and Kevin Pietersen is currently tying the knot with Liberty X's Jessica Taylor. We'll have all the nuptials updates as they come in.
2.53pm Hilario and Juliano Belletti have been pressed into action for Chelsea against Newcastle this afternoon, while Andriy Shevchenko hasn't even made the first-team squad. Newcastle have named Michael Owen on the bench, with Obafemi Martins starts in a lonely role up front, with Alan Smith set for another forlorn appearance in midfield.
2.49pm Today I shall mostly be losing money by backing Swansea to beat Leeds, Rochdale to win at Macclesfield, Forest to prevail at Gillingham and Villa to edge Wigan at the JJB Stadium.
2.46pm Fulham caretaker Ray Lewington has recalled Dejan Stefanovic, David Healy, Steve Davis, Elliott Omozusi and Hameur Bouazza at Birmingham, in the wake of the team's Boxing Day mauling at White Hart Lane. New manager Roy Hodgson, meanwhile, is watching from the St Andrew's stands.
2.41pm More team news: Jermaine Jenas returns for Spurs against Reading, while Darren Bent doesn't even make the squad. Self-confessed pub football player Curtis Davies is back in the Aston Villa defense at Wigan ... the Latics are unchanged. "The above photograph of Carlos Tevez has to be the most flattering I have seen taken; he almost looks human!" exclaims Andrew Smith. "Who was the photographer? My wife would kill a close relative just to get him to do her passport and driver's license." I think you'll find his identity cunningly hidden in the caption, Andrew.
2.38pm Saturday so far: Rangers secured to a 2-1 win at Hibernian, helped in no small part by Daniel Cousin's firecracker of a second; Crystal Palace piled the woe on to Sheffield Utd boss Bryan Robson, with James Scowcroft scoring the only goal at Bramall Lane; and Grimsby beat local rivals Lincoln 1-0, courtesy of a late goal from Gary Jones.
2.30pm Good afternoon one and all. I trust everyone is well. Anyhow, football: here are this afternoon's Premier League fixtures: Portsmouth v Middlesbrough, Birmingham v Fulham, Sunderland v Bolton, Tottenham v Reading, Wigan v Aston Villa, West Ham v Man Utd, Chelsea v Newcastle, Everton v Arsenal (5.15pm). The early team news we have is that Wayne Rooney has been left out of United's trip to Upton Park, but Carlos Tevez starts. And according to the Radio Five Live, Reading's team bus has been stuck in traffic on its way through the packed streets of north London - they've apparently had to text their team in. Still, better than phoning in a performance as they have for much of the season.
Other games of worthy note today include second versus second-bottom in the Championship - Watford host QPR, looking for a first home win since October 20. Leaders West Brom host Scunthorpe, while third-placed Stoke visit sixth-placed Plymouth.
League One leaders Swansea host Leeds (third) in the big game of the division, while MK Dons, current pacesetters in League Two, travel north to Darlington. In the SPL, Celtic host Gretna.
