Vaughan Fined for England's Slow Play

Cricket: Michael Vaughan has been fined 40% of his match fee for the final Test against Sri Lanka last week due to England's slow over rate
Michael Vaughan, the England captain, has paid the price for his team's slow over rate during the final Test against Sri Lanka after being fined 40% of his match fee. England failed in their bid for victory in Galle last week, drawing the match to lose the series 1-0 and tumble from second to fifth in the Test rankings.

The decision of Jeff Crowe, the match referee, to impose fines was prompted by England's failure to deliver the required amount of overs. They fell four short of the required number.

Vaughan will bear the brunt of the punishment, but the rest of the team have also been fined 20% of their fees, five per cent for every over.
