FA Rejects Zokora's Red Card Appeal
Soccer: Didier Zokora faces a three-match ban after the FA refused to revoke the red card he received against Manchester City on Tuesday
The Football Association has rejected Tottenham's appeal to have the red card Didier Zokora received against Manchester City overturned.
Zokora was dismissed by referee Steve Bennett for a two-footed tackle on Elano during Tottenham's 2-0 Carling Cup win on Tuesday night. He now faces a three-match ban, creating a fresh dilemma for manager Juande Ramos, who had deployed midfielder Zokora as an emergency center-back in recent games in a bid to cover a growing injury crisis at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham are already missing the injured Michael Dawson, Ledley King, Gareth Bale, Ricardo Rocha and Benoit Assou-Ekotto in defence, and Ramos will have to find some creative solutions ahead of his team's trip to North London neighbors and league-leaders Arsenal on Saturday.
