Switzerland Move Was Financial, Says Coulthard

Motor racing: Fellow tax exile David Coultard says that Lewis Hamilton's motivation for moving abroad is nobody's business but his own
David Coulthard, one of formula one's legion of tax exiles, believes Lewis Hamilton's decision to move to Geneva is down to money rather than the pressures of fame.

"I moved [to Monaco] for financial reasons," said Coulthard yesterday as he promoted this month's Race of Champions event. "I would have thought Lewis had moved for financial reasons. The Queen, Madonna and a lot of big celebrities live in the UK and manage to function fine. But he doesn't need to justify his decision to anyone - if it's right for his career, he should do it. He's chosen Geneva, which for six months a year is under a cloud, but there you go."

Jenson Button is confident that he can have a more successful season at Honda next year following the appointment of Ross Brawn - who masterminded Michael Schumacher's run of five championships - as team principal. "Ross taking over the technical side is a massive bonus for us, because technically we have been very weak," said Button who won only six points last season.
