Waiting

One of life's more difficult tasks - waiting.
Yesterday has come and gone
Tomorrow is far away.
The night is long
And I’m not strong.
Waiting for the dawn
Hoping you won’t be long.
Straining to hear the birds sings
In the early morn.
The sun rose, the night in repose.
You came and my vigil was over
My happiness all in clover.
