Berry Back on the Right Track
Bewleys Berry gave his supporters a grand sight for a long way in the Grand National and was still in the lead when falling at second Becher's. He has his first run since on a return visit to Aintree for the Becher Chase (2.50) and Bewleys Berry can go one better than when second in this race last year off today's mark.
Olay Olay looks like starting a very short price in the Grand Sefton Handicap Chase considering the size of the field and old rival Rowdy Yeats should offer more value. He looks ready for the step up in trip and races up with the pace, normally an advantage over the National course. Look out for a good run from Cassia Heights, who loves the course and has had his form rekindled recently.
Dancing Lyra ran well over two miles at the track in April and is fit from three recent runs on the Flat. He should go close in the very difficult handicap hurdle at 2.15.
At Plumpton, Cleymor House is fancied to make his second run for Alison Thorpe a winning one in the 3.15, while the best bet on a competitive card at Towcester is Casalani (1.15). Her jockey lost considerable ground at the start of her comeback run at the course, yet Casalani was cutting back the leaders on the run to the line. She races over a more suitable distance of three miles this time.
Petroupetrov could be thrown in on his first run in a handicap hurdle at 1.50 on the basis of one of his two runs over timber in France when he finished around 20 lengths behind Grand Bleu at Fontainbleau. The winner ran off 145 at Haydock yesterday, so Petroupetrov's mark of 95 may be lenient and he gained valuable experience of this track in May.
