Wigan Still Waiting for Bruce

Steve Bruce is still haggling with Birmingham over the severance of his contract, meaning his unveiling has been delayed yet again
Steve Bruce's official unveiling as Wigan manager has been delayed yet again as his dispute with Birmingham City over the severance of his contract rumbles on.

The disagreement caused Bruce's initial unveiling - which was supposed to take place on Wednesday - to be cancelled, but the dispute was believed to have been resolved. Today's events suggest otherwise and caretaker manager Frank Barlow will now take charge of the team for tomorrow's game at Arsenal, with Bruce now expected to finalise negotiations by Monday.

Asked whether he knew when the dispute would be settled, the Birmingham chairman, David Gold, said: "The problems will be solved in due course ... I really don't know at this stage, I am as much in the dark as you are."

Meanwhile, Birmingham expect to learn today whether Carson Yeung's proposed takeover will go ahead. The uncertainty over the club's future was a major factor in Bruce's decision to leave St Andrew's.
