Preston Secure Irvine As New Manager
Everton assistant Alan Irvine has agreed a three-and-a-half year deal to take over at Deep dale.
Preston have agreed a compensation package with Everton for the release of assistant manager Alan Irvine. The 49-year-old Irvine will be unveiled as Preston's new manager at a press conference later today after signing a 3½-year deal at Deep dale to replace Paul Simpson, who was sacked last week.
"We are very pleased that Alan will be joining us," said the Preston chairman, Derek Shaw. "He's ready to have a crack at management. He's got a reputation of being a top-notch coach, his work ethic is amazing, he's worked with [Everton manager] David Moyes and I know the amount of games they take in, you see them all over the country.
"David Moyes and Alan Irvine have set high standards at Everton and I'm pretty sure that Alan will continue to maintain those high standards at Deep dale."
