Andy Murray kept his hopes of reaching the end-of-season Masters Cup alive with a straight sets win over Jarkko Nieminen in the second round of the Paris Masters.
Murray, seeded 15th, was not at his best but overcame a diffident start and an early break in the second set to win 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. He is now scheduled to meet Novak Djokovic, who plays his second-round match later today.
Murray needs to reach the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters and outperform Tommy Haas, Tommy Robredo and James Blake, to reach end-of-season Masters Cup finale in Shanghai.
