Hamilton Qualifies Ahead of Rivals

Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton will be second on the grid for tomorrow's Brazilian grand prix, in front of both Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen.
Lewis Hamilton boosted his chances of clinching the world championship at Interlagos tomorrow by qualifying ahead of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen, the two drivers who can beat him to the title.

Hamilton will start second on the grid, behind Ferrari's Felipe Massa. Raikkonen will begin one place behind him, while Alonso starts in fourth place. Hamilton will be crowned world champion in his rookie season if he finishes first or second. A third or fourth place finish would also secure him the title provided Alonso doesn't win tomorrow's race.

Raikkonen will leapfrog both McLaren drivers if he wins the race and Hamilton finishes no better than sixth and Alonso no better than third.

The rivalry between Hamilton and Alonso has become so embittered that both drivers have been warned not to celebrate too ostentatiously in the event of triumphing.
