Andy Murray's recent revival ended today he lost 6-4, 7-5 to Janko Tipsarevic in the last 16 of the Kremlin Cup.
Murray started sluggishly and failed to muster a single break-point in the opening set against the world No68, who in stark contrast had seven opportunities to break. He succeeded with just one of them - but with Murray out of sorts, that was enough to earn him a one-set advantage.
The British No1 was much improved in the second set - and after failing to convert break opportunities in each of Tipsarevic's opening two service games, he made it third time lucky to seize the initiative.
A deciding set appeared on the cards as Murray moved into a 5-3 lead. But Tipsarevic reeled off the next four games to gain revenge for last week's defeat against Murray in Metz.
Tipsarevic was far more clinical on the crucial points, converting two out of three break opportunities in the second set as opposed to Murray's one out of 10 - to book a last-eight date in Moscow against Radek Stepanek.
