McClaren Backs Robinson to Start
Despite a series of high-profile blunders, Steve McClaren will keep faith with Paul Robinson against Estonia.
Steve McClaren today gave his full support to the Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson following his poor run of form. "He has never let us down, Paul Robinson is in," said McClaren of Robinson, who has made a series of errors, including two howlers against Aston Villa and a spilled free-kick at the weekend which gifted a goal to Liverpool.
England's coach McClaren also has a number of other decisions to make concerning team selection ahead of the qualifier with Estonia on Saturday. With the likes of John Terry, Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole on yellow cards, McClaren may choose to rest players ahead of the vital clash with Russia.
"There are plenty of issues when you talk about the team on Saturday and decisions will be made this week," added McClaren. "There are issues with yellow cards, in midfield and up front so there are a few things to think about. I will name the team on Friday and Saturday we play against Estonia and [we must] make sure we get three points there."
McClaren also revealed that defender Wes Brown has returned to Manchester United with a knee injury.
