McLaren Drop Their Appeal Against Lost Hungary Points
Formula one: McLaren will not fight the decision to demote Fernando Alonso from pole to sixth place at the Hungarian grand prix.
McLaren have decided not to appeal against the points penalty imposed on them at last month's Hungarian grand prix. Fernando Alonso was found guilty by race stewards of deliberately impeding his team-mate Lewis Hamilton, the world championship leader, in the pit lane towards the end of what proved to be a controversial qualifying session. Alonso was demoted from pole position to sixth on the grid at the Hungaroring, and the team were informed they would not collect any constructors' points from the race. The team were ultimately denied 15 points as Hamilton went on to claim victory, with Alonso in fourth place.
