Collingwood 'sorry' for Lap-dancing Visit

Cricket: Paul Collingwood admits it was 'unacceptable' for him to visit a lap-dancing club hours after England lost to Australia.
England's one-day captain Paul Collingwood has apologised for visiting a lap-dancing club hours after the defeat by Australia at the World Twenty20.

Collingwood was seen in the bar in Cape Town in the early hours of Saturday morning, the day before England were beaten by the hosts South Africa.

"It's obviously unacceptable and I'll have to learn from that," said Collingwood. "The fact is I made a mistake, that's what it comes down to, and what I need to focus on what is now a big game for us. I was taken in a car with friends and taken to the bar and got there, had a beer and thought 'I need to get out of this place'."

Asked if he expected to be punished by the England and Wales Cricket Board, Collingwood said: "I'm not too sure, it's entirely up to them. I've made apologies to them and I realize it was inappropriate to go there and that was my mistake."

England's hopes of reaching the semi-finals have since been dented further by a five-run defeat at the hands of New Zealand but they could still qualify on superior run-rate if they beat India, while New Zealand beat South Africa.

Collingwood said: "I'm disappointed with myself but hopefully we can quickly get over it and concentrate on this game because mathematically we're still hoping we can get through."
