Raikkonen Wins But Hamilton Retains Title Lead
Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton were left trailing as Kimi Raikkonen won the Belgian Grand Prix.
The McLaren team-mates started in third and fourth places respectively on the grid and battled with each other on the opening lap while Raikkonen and his fellow Ferrari driver Felipe Massa pulled clear.
Hamilton was edged wide by Alonso going into the La Source hairpin, but recovered and seemed to have the edge as they climbed the hill at Eau Rouge.
However, Alonso managed to defend his third place and held his advantage for the rest of the race.
But he could not catch Massa's Ferrari so he only claimed one point more than Hamilton, closing the gap at the top of the drivers championship to two points with three races to go.
Raikkonen and Massa claimed the top two positions for the third time this season as they dominated and Raikkonen's fourth victory of the season means he is 13 points behind Hamilton in the championship.
Jenson Button suffered another disappointment as he was forced out by hydraulic failure with seven laps left. He has retired from five of the 12 races so far this season.
