Robinson Gets the Nod As Gerrard is Cleared for England

Soccer: Steve McClaren has confirmed that Paul Robinson and Steven Gerrard will start against Israel tomorrow, but no decision has been made on Owen Hargreaves.
The England manager Steve McClaren has confirmed that Paul Robinson and Steven Gerrard will face Israel in tomorrow's crucial Euro 2008 qualifier at Wembley.

Gerrard has a broken toe but came through a training session today; it remains to be seen if he will require a pain-killing injection before a match England need to win to maintain realistic hopes of reaching next summer's finals in Switzerland and Austria.

However, fellow midfielder Owen Hargreaves remains a doubt because of a thigh injury sustained during training on Wednesday. Hargreaves will undergo a fitness test tomorrow morning.

McClaren also confirmed that Robinson will start in goal despite his mistake in the last England match against Germany.
