Fulham Sign Paul Konchesky and David Healy

Soccer: Transfer round-up: Fulham have signed full-back Paul Konchesky and Leeds striker David Healy on four-year deals.
The Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez has made West Ham's full-back Paul Konchesky and the Leeds striker David Healy his fifth and sixth signings of the summer.

Konchesky, 26, had fallen out of favour at Upton Park since Alan Curbishley replaced Alan Pardew in December, while Healy - who played under Sanchez for Northern Ireland - had been looking to move on after Leeds were relegated to League One. Both completed their moves to Fulham today for undisclosed fees, and both signed four-year contracts at the club.

"My interest in signing David Healy has been well documented in recent months and I am delighted that he has signed for the club today," said Sanchez of Healy, who has scored 29 goals in 59 international appearances.

Earlier he had declared himself "delighted" with the addition of Konchesky, saying: "At 26, Paul's best footballing years will be spent at Craven Cottage and I am looking forward to him becoming an integral member of our side next season."

Fulham have already strengthened at full-back this summer - adding Southampton's Chris Baird for £3.025m yesterday. Sanchez has also brought in two other players who turned out for him during his time with Northern Ireland - Aston Villa pair Aaron Hughes and Steve Davis - as well as West Brom striker Diomansy Kamara since the end of the season.

The Reggina striker Rolando Bianchi, meanwhile, has become Sven-Goran Eriksson's first signing as Manchester City's manager. Bianchi, Serie A's fourth highest scorer last season with 18 goals, joins for an undisclosed fee, which Reggina had previously claimed to be £8.8m.

Liverpool have confirmed their capture of the Ajax forward Ryan Babel. The 20-year-old Holland international, who starred in this summer's European Under-21 Championships in his homeland, has signed a five-year deal with the Anfield club. He joins midfielder Yossi Benayoun on Merseyside and both will be unveiled at a press conference this afternoon.

And Sunderland have completed the signing of Michael Chopra on a four-year deal. It is understood the 23-year-old put pen to paper following a medical on Wearside this morning after the Black Cats reportedly agreed a fee of £5m with Cardiff. The former Newcastle striker becomes Roy Keane's third summer signing after the capture of Greg Halford and Russell Anderson.
