Baseball: Suzuki Outshines Bonds to Seal American League Win

Barry Bonds was upstaged in the mid-season showpiece by the Seattle Mariners' Ichuro Suzuki.
It was supposed to be Barry Bonds' all-star game yesterday and initially attention was focused on the man trying to break Hank Aaron's career home run record.

It was his stadium in San Francisco, his Giants fans and his chance to steal the headlines but he was taken out of the game by the fourth inning.

Instead of Bonds dominating the mid-season showpiece between the best players of the two major leagues, the Seattle Mariners' Ichiro Suzuki emerged as the most valuable player.

Suzuki struck the first inside-the-park home run in all-star history and added two singles and drove in two runs to power the American League to a 5-4 win over the National League.
