Henin v Serena Williams - Live!
Tennis: Game-by-game report: Follow all the action from the women's quarter-finals NOW with Tom Lutz.
First set: Williams *3- 2 Henin There haven't been too many long rallies in this game, but there's a fairly long passage of play before a mishit from Henin beats Serena. Over on Court 2 Bartoli is serving for the match against Kraijicek, she'll play the winner here if she can clinch her game.
First set: Williams 2- 2* Henin The wind is starting to swirl about, so much so that Henin has to adjust her ball toss a couple of times. It distracts hr enough that she double faults on the first point of the game. Henin's second serve is a pretty lifeless affair - especially in this wind - and she struggles when she doesn't get her first serves in. However, Serena helps her out with some unforced errors -despite being 0-30 up, and Henin takes it.
First set: Williams *2- 1 Henin There's more smack going round here than one of much underfunded jails. Serena serves up another ace to take the game, and she looks like she's in a hurry here, not sure whether how long her body will hold up in the cold conditions.
First set: Williams 1- 1 Henin* As if her calf wasn't in bad enough shape, Serena's thumb also has more tape strewn round it than a mucky video shop. She's got enough control with it on though and dabs over a nice drop shot to bring the game to 30-30. Henin then takes the game with two winners, the first a backhand that lands right on the baseline and then a thunderous forehand.
First set: *Williams 1- 0 Henin Serena comes out slugging and smacks a volley into Henin's body that elicits a yelp from both players. Serena is moving well enough, despite her injury a few days ago. She serves out the game with an ace. So far so good for an all Williams final.
Preamble: Here we go then, Henin has cruised through to the quarters, while Serena has stumbled through - knacked left-leg and all. This is their eleventh meeting and Serena leads 6-4 so far, although after their last meeting, which Heninin won, Serena says she felt violated. I felt that way when I went down in the quarters of the Chantry under-12s, so I know how she feels.
