Real Madrid Enter Race for Florent Malouda
Soccer: Chelsea have a bit of competition for the signature of Florent Malouda in the form of fellow bloated superclub, Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are competing with Chelsea for the signature of Florent Malouda as well as showing interest in Arjen Robben, it emerged today.
Real have made it clear they would only be interested in signing one of the wingers, with Malouda thought to be their first choice. Real president Ramon Calderon said today: "We like Robben and Malouda. But they play in the same position and we will only sign one of them."
Earlier today, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said he does not believe that Chelsea are willing to meet his asking price for Malouda.
The French international has openly expressed his desire to move to Chelsea and claims he has already spoken to Jose Mourinho. But Chelsea have yet to meet Lyon's valuation of the France international, which is believed to be around £17m.
"I said to Flo that I wasn't sure the deal was going to materialise," said Aulas. "I am not sure Chelsea have the desire or the means to call out to Florent Malouda. I don't feel these people really want to tie up this deal."
Malouda has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, although their attention is currently directed towards signing Fernando Torres from Atletico Madrid.
