Thierry Henry Passes Barcelona Medical
Soccer: Spanish doctors have declared Thierry Henry injury-free ahead of his official unveiling as a Barcelona player.
Thierry Henry will be confirmed as a Barcelona player later this afternoon after passing his medical at the Camp Nou. Barsa's medical team have spent the day putting the 29-year-old forward through his paces and team doctor Ricard Pruna confirmed that he had passed the tests.
"There are no problems, everything is in order. Henry has no injury or after-effect that prevents him from joining the club," said Pruna. "We paid particular attention to the groin area because we are aware of the problems he has had there. We believe it is due to an imbalance in the muscle groups in the area. He will undergo a special programme in Paris to redress the imbalance in the area so that he can join up with the rest of the team on July 21."
Henry will be presented with his new shirt at 3pm British time and will be officially unveiled to the media two hours later. Henry has agreed a four-year contract in a deal worth £16.15m to Arsenal.
Henry's arrival at the Camp Nou gives Barsa coach Frank Rijkaard a wealth of attacking options next season, with the likes of Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Lionel Messi already on the books.
The French striker leaves the Gunners as the club's record goalscorer after scoring 226 goals coming in 364 appearances.
