Boxing: Warren Promises World Title Shot for Skelton or Sprott

Promoter Frank Warren has tipped Commonwealth heavyweights Matt Skelton and Michael Sprott for world stardom.

Frank Warren says the winner of Saturday's Commonwealth heavyweight title fight between the champion, Matt Skelton, and Michael Sprott at London's ExCel Arena will fight for one of the versions of the world title. "I guarantee one of these guys will fight for the title," the promoter said last night.

"I believe we are in a strong position because we bring British television into the equation." He added: "It's an intriguing fight. Michael Sprott produced an absolutely stunning result last time out when he poleaxed Audley Harrison, while Matt is probably No1 in Britain right now." Skelton and Sprott have met before in 2004, when Skelton won with a 12th-round stoppage.
