Neil Warnock on His Way Out of Sheffield United
Soccer: Neil Warnock will huff and puff elsewhere next season, when he resigns from Sheffield United later today, according to reports.
Neil Warnock will confirm his resignation from Sheffield United at an 11am press conference today, according to Sky Sports News.
Warnock is reportedly unhappy at the contract offer he received prior to Sunday's game at Wigan. Had the Blades stayed up, Warnock would have received £750,000 a year, making him the lowest paid manager in the Premiership. As it was, his side were relegated, meaning the deal was worth £450,000.
During Monday's League Managers Association dinner Warnock said he wanted another "two years managing in the Premiership" before retiring at 60. He also refused to confirm he would be at the club in August.
Speculation continued to grow last night after Warnock's No2, Stuart McCall told TalkSport: "We'll see what happens but it wouldn't surprise me if that [the Wigan game] was the gaffer's last game in charge."
Warnock has been in charge at Bramall Lane since December 1999.
